Rebuilding - one of my factors is length of history (average 2.5 years).
In 2012, my mom closed her Macy's CC which had been opened since 2007, on which I was an authorized user, because we thought back then that would help my bad credit.
There were 4 late payments in 2010 that are still being reported.
My question is: would the benefit of reopening the account (and possibly either disputing or writing a letter of goodwill about the lates) for the benefit of
a) vastly increasing my age of credit history b)increasing my overal credit and open accounts
outweigh the negatives of
a) updating the date of last activity on the account
b) risking an inquiry for reopening
Aka is it even worth it.
Thanks in advance.
