I received a letter in the mail from Convergent Outsourcing, a collection agency in Washington. It was in regards to a Regions Bank checking account I had. The date on the account is from 2013, according to the representative at Convergent with whom I spoke.
When I called Convergent, I asked if there was any way to pay the $439.10 in order for it not to report to the credit bureaus (it's June 2016 and still has not reported). The representative said "We do not report to the credit bureau for this," which I find hard to believe? The letter offered me a settlement of 50% which comes to $219.55.
Seeking advice on what to do - I've read that you should pay amounts in full and not in monthly installments because those collection agencies will report on your payment status to the bureaus.
I'm really at a loss - should I chance it on this collection agency not reporting? I was told that they do not report, and haven't so far, but I've googled other entries about Convergent with people complaining that they have reported on them.
Does anyone have any advice or feedback on this?
