Trying to get rid of a satisfied judgment from 2012 on my husband's reports. Called the clerk of the district court (MD) to ask about vacating and removing a satisfied judgment (since I couldn't find anything online). She connected me with a lawyer in the self-assist department (I had no idea one existed) who listened to what I was trying to accomplish, put me on hold for a few minutes and came back and said I needed to file a Motion to Seal or Otherwise Limit Inspection of a Case Record (Md. Rule 16-1009(a)). He gave me the form number (CC-DC-053) and confirmed that it was available online.
It is a short one-page form, but I do not know how fill in the following blanks:
The specific records or parts of records that should not be subject to public inspection are__________. [I'm thinking: Judgment]
and
I do ___ do not ____ believe that immediate, substantial and irreparable harm will result to me if these
records, or parts of records, are not immediately sealed, or immediately made unavailable for public
inspection, before a full adversary hearing can be held. If I believe such harm will result, the specific
reasons for my belief are: __________________.
First, I do not want an adversary hearing. Second, I'm guessing that I'm supposed to say that I do believe that substantial and irreparable harm will result if the judgment is not sealed or available to the public because . . . higher interest rates for mortgage, consumer loans and credit cards; background checks; insurance; or something like that.
If anyone is familiar with this document and could help with language to be inserted, I would be eternally grateful.
Alternatively, if the young lawyer in the self-assist department in the courthouse does not know what he is talking about and someone here knows of a better way to get this done, that would be even better!
