First time over 700 FICO! Rebuild
I've since put a lot of time and effort into rebuilding.
When I started I had 6-7 collections accounts, a charge off, and no open credit cards. My credit has been shot for the last 5-6 years, for a long time I just learned to live without credit, but a year and a half ago I started to rebuild, seeing other's success was a huge motivator!
I've disputed, done PFD's, and have done everything I can to rebuild. 18 months ago I went into T-Mobile and they said they wanted a $400 deposit for an IPhone, whereas my friend with a 630 FICO got it with no deposit, that was painful.
After reading some people's stories on here I got the motivation to rebuild. I never thought it was possible I thought I was stuck in this whole of misery for life. But today, for the first time ever I checked my score and it was above 700 FICO!!!
"Credit Scorecard

702 FICO® Score
23 Total Accounts
6 years Length of Credit
5 Inquiries
46% Revolving Utilization
0 Missed Payments"
About 14 of the accounts shown are student loans for $1,000-$4,000.
And the bonus, since I'm currently at 46% UT and still have a 700+ FICO that means once I pay it down my scores will go even higher!

I can't believe it, this is an unbelievable moment for me, I'm almost in tears. This means so much to me to join the 700 club you don't even know!!!
Please never give up, keep reading people's threads and use them as your motivation, know that you can to someday join the 700 Club!!!
LVNV Bank Account Freeze After Judgement?
I have a one day old $3k judgement against me in favor of LVNV. I am unemployed, but have an amount equal to the judgement in my bank account. Is LVNV known for freezing bank accounts? If so, how long do I have before I lose my savings? If I act quick and have the money transferred out to an acquaintance, does LVNV retain legal claim on the money?
Question about Good Will Letters
Hi - can I send a Good Will letter to ask to have a closed and paid account (collection account specifically) totally removed from my credit report?
I need help/Should I pay????? WHAT DATE ARE THEY GOING BY????
Good afternoon everyone. I've been working on improving my credit scores since March of this year. My scores are increasing but I have 1 account that I can't get around. In 2011, I had an emergency and I ended up going to Cedars Sinai. I called them to work out a payment plan because I was pregnant and on bedrest but they said they couldnt accept $50 a month as a payment plan. I moved on and totally forgot about the account. The account is now with SEQUOIA FINANCIAL SVCS and has increase to $4200. I wanted to workout a PFD agreement with them.
My dilemma is this. On my credit reports, the account is showing that it was first reported in 2013 but both credit reports stated that the acoount will be able to remove in May of 2018. I went to the hospital in 2011 but it wasn't reported until 2013. What date are they going by? If it was reported in 2013, how come it can be removed in 2018? Should I just try a pay for delete letter with Cedars Sinai or SEQUOIA FINANCIAL SVCS or wait until May of 2018 and have it removed? I want to be in the low 700s by December of this year.
Just Starting to Rebuild - Help with Starter Advise
Hi, I am hoping to rebuild my credit to the point that I can get an approved VA loan in the next 12 months. It was recommended that I come to this helpful forum, post all my baddies, and get advice on where to start. My income and DTI are not a problem, but my credit report and scores are a definite problem. I would be extremely grateful to anybody who has tips on what I should start with!
The good:
NFCU - Credit Card - No lates, 7 year history, 13K owed on 14K limit, 15% interest
NFCU - Van Loan - No lates, opened 5/15, balance 14K, 12% interest
The Bad - Collections:
Medical (Ortho Virginia handed off to American Collections)
OWED: $682, DOFD: 8/13 (don't think that date is correct)
Medical - Suburban Credit Corporation
$614, DOFD 7/13 (don't believe that date is correct)
Medical - Suburban Credit Corporation
$620, DOFD 7/13 (don't believe that date is correct)

DOFD: 11/12 - Reported -5/13
Note - this has a note "first payment never received" -

This was one of those, open and put your purchase on the card for a percent off. Shouldn't DOFD be 9/11??
Verizon, $518,
DOFD: 11/14 (there is no way this is correct. Closer to 12/11)

MIssing Mortgage Tradeline
I was looking at my Credit Karma repoort for this week and I noticed that my TU scored dropped 47 points. So after doing a little looking around, i noticed that my mortgage tradeline was missing. There is no reason for it to be removed...nothing has changed. It is still being reported on EQ.
I emailed my mortgage company and I got back a bit of a canned response saying that I needed to take it up with the reporting agency. Im not sure how this works but it seems like maybe the TU report from our mortgage didnt process properly.
Any thoughts? Should I report it to TU or take it up with the mortgage co?
thank

when to remove AU accounts and if i should pay off secured loan sooner
Confused over rebuilding - credit lines, cards, details inside - please help!
I've followed this forum for a long time and recieved such amazing advice, so thank you. I wanted to post my current situation and see what I should try to do next. I'm nervous that one wrong move could hinder the progress I've already made. From what I've read some people open lines of credit as opposed to cards, is that right? I'm wondering what my next move should be. Should I pay down some of these collections? I've read sometimes you shouldn't. Should I try to get an OpenSky card?
My goal is to get an auto loan.
Pulled today:
Equifax - 513
TransUnion - 542
Experian - 550
My only 2 open accounts are student loans which are in good standing and have always been paid on time.
I recently had Capital One close a card on me back in January because of lates I believe. I was kind of at the tail end of a financial health crisis with my husband when they did that. It had a limit of $200 which was late 30 days until I paid it completely off yesterday. So I think those scores are not reflective of that balance change, regardless, I'm sure it won't make that much of a difference. Not sure if I should call them to try and re-open it? I called once and the woman didn't seem to care, told me it was impossible.
I have 11 collections, 2 of which I need to dispute because I believe they're my husbands medical bills and he's filing bankruptcy.
$915 - Hospital bill (is a few years old, but showing up on my CR dated 4/10/2017)
$122 - Hospital bill (not mine, husbands, going to dispute)
$96 - Hospital bill (is a few years old, but showing up on my CR dated 1/20/2017)
$1883 - Hospital bill (is a few years old, but showing up on my CR dated 1/20/2017)
Goodwill Letter for Synchrony Bank Succedded
This is my first time posting as I just opened this account so as to share my story to help (any of you).
So long story short, I visited GAP in September 2016 and it was my fault that I did not ask thoroughly. At the cashier, I thought they were applying me a store card or membership card. My family was in town with me so I did not ask much or pay attention to those stuffs.
8 months later (May 2017), I was applying for mortgage and my credit report was pulled and I was told that I had a unpaid GAP credit card with $27 balance (charge off). I was confused because I did not receive any information from the bank (nor mail or email). I finally realized I did something that would bring me nightmares. Immediately after discussing the issue with the bank (the one I applied mortgage), they referred me to a credit consulting company that charged me $150 for two months but did not do anything (I cancelled it about a month later).
Right after I got to know that charge-off record, I called Synchrony bank to figure out what was happening. Honestly, I have been in called with at least 50 people from that bank and nobody can speak clear English. You must have good hearing to talk to those people. In addition, they are not friendly/polite! I remember the first call I had with a lady was the most disrespectful call I have ever had. Since I did not know about the card and any information, I provided my name and SSN. However, that lady was not able to locate my information based on the fact that she thought I was lying because the name I provided does not match the name on their profile. She even told me this "call back when you remember your name". I was like "**bleep** I know my name I don't have to remember my name. She ended up transferring me to another guy and that guy was able to help me locate my information and I agreed to pay that $27 for settlement.
About 2 weeks later, I got a letter from them saying charge-off is changed to paid-in-full. So I called them again to try to get that record out of my credit report. I mean, their customer service is a joke. During each call, I was usually transferred couple times. During each time, I had to explain my story again and again. They don't communicate with each other during the transfer (good luck with being a good story teller). No matter how many people I talked to, they refused to take it off.
Another nightmare I had to deal with was to communicate with credit bureaus (Equifax and Experian).
First, the negative GAP record was only shown on Equifax. Transunion and Experian did not have it. I tried to obtain a credit report from Equifax but I was not able to because they did not even have my information. I called and faxed thousands of times again (of course their customer service sucks again) and finally I got my online credit report from Equifax. Interestingly, it does not show the negative record (maybe it is because they updated my correct SSN and name).
Yeah it is not time to celebrate yet. Some people here may know Equifax credit report comes with records from Transunion and Experian. This time Transunion is still good but Experian shows the negative record. I was not surprised anymore because I got used to it.
So I started it over again for trying to get a credit report from Experian. Only good thing about Experian is their customer service is way better than Synchrony bank's and Equifax's. Usual wait time is 20-30s comparing to Equifax's (Synchrony bank's) 20-30 mins and representatives are located in the U.S. and they speak normal English. Unfortunately, I was not able to have online access. I called and they told me (once again) they cannot verify my information. All they can do is to mail me a copy of the credit report and follow the steps on that. I got the report within a week and yes the negative record is there. I called and disputed the item but you know what I got a letter in about 3 weeks saying they can't process the dispute because they cannot verify my identity (I mailed them copies of my ID and W2). Even till now I can't have online access because they locked my SSN in their profile. A representative told me not to try logging in for 30-60 days in order to unlock it. So, it is a joke that they can't do anything once your SSN is locked.
I was exhausted after all these. Nobody can help and nothing I could do.
Fortunately, I came across some posts here about goodwill letter. I knew that this could be my last chance. I wrote a letter asking them to take it off in a polite tone and mailed to copies to TX and FL. I also emailed ask.sychrony twice and their CEO on LinkedIn. Letters were sent out on 7/7/17 and I got a call from 605-355-5500 but I was not able to pick it up. A lady called Victoria (she sounded nice) left a message saying she is with corporate customer relation of Synchrony bank with GAP and asked me to call back. Strangely, I called her about 5 times a day for 14 days but she didn't pick up. There was nothing I could do but to send an email to ask.sychrony again on 7/20.
A guy called me the next day on 7/21 (605-355-5500) and of course I picked it up even when I was in a meeting. First thing he told me was that Victoria was out due to personal reason. Second thing, you know, is the most magical thing I have heard in the last two months: "Sir we are going to take out the GAP record since you do not know anything about it".
Man, I finally did it after talking to around 100 random people all around the world for 2 months. He ensured that a letter will be sent out by today (7/24/17) to prove that they are going to take out the record from credit bureaus. To be honest, I would have written the letter the first day if I knew this is that easy.
I hope my story will help some people here and good luck to you all!

Little background about myself. I came to the U.S. for college in 2009 and now I am working here as an non-resident alien. I did not have a SSN until 2014 and my credit depth is only 3 years old, and my legal first name contain two separate words. I believe credit bureaus (or creditors) messed up my first name so I was not able to retrieve my credit report (that's not uncommon because a lot of people have use the first words of my first name to be my first name and second word of my first name to be my middle name. In fact, I do not have a middle but a lot of people think so.

Old Collections
Hi all,
Newbie here, just starting to focus on rebuilding credit. I currently am sitting at a score of 496. It was 556 last month, and one late payment knocked it down. My current CR is as follows:
One auto loan, been over 30 days one time in the past year.
2 credit cards, both at almost max utilization- I have a plan to pay them off over the next 6 months and use for gas or groceries and then PIF at end of month. Again, been 30 days late 1 time in the past year on 1 account.
Student loans that are currently deferred as I finish my degree
A few closed accounts, some were over 120 days late, some closed in good standing.
I do have one open collections account. It is about a year away from falling off my CR. Should I pay it now, or just let it alone to fall off?
I would love any other tips. I went about 12 pages deep in this forum before deciding I needed to have some accountability to myself and maybe posting on here will help. I do want to buy a house in about 5 years, so will that collections still show for the mortgage company even if it's fallen off?
South West Credit pay for delete denied
I have a $554 collection from 2013 from a screwed up Comcast bill handled by South West Credit. I sent them a certified letter saying I do not acknowledge the alleged debt to be mine, but am willing to pay a portion if it be removed - got their response today claiming due to federal laws and regulations they cannot.
I didn't expect great luck with my first try,and always see people saying try and try again. Is there anything different I should do in my second attempt?
CAP1 Auto CO/settlement letter HELP!
Hi all. I have a CAP1 Auto CO from 2014. The credit report shows that the balance is $848. I've never received anything showing me how they came to this amount once the car was sold at auction, never received anything stating I had an opportunity to pay to get the car back, etc. Absolutely nothing. I know of the amount from my report. My question is this.... they sent a letter this year stating I could pay $37 to be considered "Paid in full" if paid by 4/2017. The problem is, here it is July and I'm just now getting this letter. So.... do I call them and ask for this expired deal? Is it really too late to accept? Or do I just DV them in the hopes of finding out how they came to this amount owed? What needs to be done here? Thanks in advance for any input!
Discover Card Charge-Off ... HELP

Help with Sprint! Remove Paid Collection
I would greatly appreciate any and all advice. I am buying a home and time is of the essence. This one item is the only thing killing my chances at getting secured for a loan.
Here is the backstory: I had an account with sprint from years ago, and I had 4 other people on the account. 3 of the people and myself moved our lines over to a new carrier and the one person (Todd) remained on the sprint account. Years go by, he continues with the sprint account, and then he stops paying. I had incorrectly assumed that the account was under his responsibility, but it wasn't. The account then went to collections. The collection agency then attempted to call me (no attempt through mail was made), and I told them politely that it was not my responsibility and that it was someone else's.
Fast forward a couple months later, and then I see the account on my credit report. I then send a DV (debt validation) letter to the CA, and they provided me with the last couple Sprint bills. The account was still in my name so they had their verification. I then called the CA to negotiate a pay for delete, but they were not having it and they said they are bound to the terms they have with Sprint. I then called Sprint's executive care, and spoke to a rep through there. I described all of the detail and informed them that I am willing to just pay as long as the item comes off the credit report. She mentioned to me that as long as I bring the account to current in full that it would be removed off of the credit report. I asked for writing for the agreement, but she was unable to. I still agreed, and just paid it off in full.
So that brings us to now. The lender reran the credit and of course, the item is still on my report, but with a paid status. I called the sprint executive line again, spoke to a different person, and told them everything above. This person then prepared an email to go to the CA escalations asking that the item be removed. I got a call back later today from sprint executive care that the CA will not remove because it is a violation of their terms with sprint. What can I do at this point? How can I get this item completely removed off of the report as quickly as possible?
My score actually dropped even more as a result, and I cannot qualify for a loan. My wife and I are expecting a child very soon, and I need to get a house before October. I really would appreciate any advice on this.
Removing Hard Inquiry from Comcast on Equifax
I have not given my ss# out. I just woke up because Equifax alerted my phone to a change. I go online and check and there's an inquiry from Comcast?! I googled removing a Comcast inquiry and I have read many other threads. Most of them have signed up with Comcast though. I hate the fact that I need to wait until business hours to contact them.
I guess I'll file a dispute with Equifax and call Comcast. If that gets me nowhere I'll send a letter.
I do have a question - what is a credit freeze? I am trying to rebuild my credit. If it's frozen what does that do? Thank you!
Any help with Amex??
I am attempting to rebuild my credit, and I am down to two negative items. One of them is a chargeoff with Amex. A few years ago, my mom encountered some medical issues, and I offered to assist with some of the charges. I put it all on the American Express card, but then I had a reduction of income, and I was unable to pay the minimum amount due which was several thousand dollars. I tried to negotiate with them, but they were not hearing it so I lapsed my payments. Eventually, the account went to collections. Several times, I attempted to call and negotiate a payment plan, but they never wanted to bargain with me so I let the account go to collections.
A while later, they hired a lawyer and were threatening judgment against me. I spoke to the lawyer, and I pleaded with them to offer me a payment plan. They relented if I came up with $50000 up front and then pay a monthly payment for the next 36 months. I agreed, and I have been on this plan now for the last 7 months. I did this so the account would not go to a judgment on my report. I have made all the payments on time, but the account is still showing as a chargeoff under my credit report.
What can I try to do to have this chargeoff not show on my credit report? Is there someone I should attempt to contact at American Express? I would greatly appreciate any assistance with this.
New Cards and Loan - Will it hurt me?
Hey everyone
So i have been building and paying off left and right. Went from a 520 in June to a 660 as of Friday.
I have a new auto lease and 2 new cards (my only cards besides being authorized user) that have not shown up yet on my report but all paid as agreed with low utilization.
When they show up, will my score dip, improve or stay the same?
Paid Medical Collection Help
OK, This question is for my daughter. She's 22 just graduated college.
3 years ago she went to an urgent care center and our insurance did not cover it as it was out of network. After months of phone calls with the insurance company, I figured it was just going to be easier to pay the $150 instead of continuing the fight with CareFirst.
Anyway, She now has a "Paid Collection" for this medical bill on her CR. While I do agree that it was late, it was due to insurance issues.
What is the best way to get this off her CR? She applied for a very small loan (and was denied) to help with her move into her apartment costs before she started her "Big Girl Job".
Thanks in advance.

Negative Acct Removal
I had Verizon on all 3 of my CR. The account was just sold and at the same time the Verizon trade line fell off Expeiran and Transunion but not Equifax. What is the best way to have the Equifax removed since Verizon did this on their own ?
