WF/PREFERRED CUST ACCT

I am old to bad credit and new to trying to fix it. I am slowly getting stuff paid off and fixed but am running into an item on my husbands / and I report.

It is a furniture store charge card listed under WF/PREFERRED CUST ACCT that was closed Jan 2013, with the last payment made on May 29, 2015. Balance is $1135. I have since lost/destroyed the card and have not received any correspondence withint the last 2 years at least and cannot find anything in my files. I know, it is a mess but I am trying to fix it now.

My credit report says this was Charged off as bad debt Profit and loss write-off. What do I with this? The creditor info shows as this.

Creditor Information

WF/PREFERRED CUST ACCT
PO BOX 14517
DES MOINES, IA 50306

But when I call this number I just get the fax noises if you know what I mean. Do I need to write a letter requesting info on how to pay this off? Or just leave it alone?

Any way to stop a delinquent payment from being reported?

My girlfriend recently discovered her mortgage payment was 42 days late. She learned this by receiving a phone call from a collection agency, so I’m assuming that implies a 30+ day delinquency has been reported to the credit bureaus, and this ding will now be stuck on her credit history for 7 years. Not good! My questions are going to be: since a collection agency is involved, does this automatically imply the delinquency has been reported to the credit bureau?
If so, is there any way to get it removed?

Quick background: she’s never had a late payment in over four years. What happened was, she recently switched jobs and opened a new bank account. All her new paychecks were being direct deposited to her new account. Meanwhile, her old account, which her mortgage payments were being auto-debited from, was no longer being funded, and eventually depleted to where it couldn’t make the payment. Major lapse on her part, no question, but an honest mistake. Which leads me to back to my original questions.

1) Does the fact that a collection agency contacted her automatically imply the 30+ delinquent has been reported to the credit bureaus?

2) If so, is there anyway to get it removed? Could she call her bank? Given the background I provided, since she’s never had a late payment before, and since her switching her auto-debit to a new bank account should provide fairly concrete evidence to support she’s not just BS’ing them, I’m optimistic the bank would cut her a break and do whatever they could on their end to remove the delinquency (IF it’s possible).

So my “#2” question is really where I hope someone here can provide the most guidance. Assuming #1’s answer is “yes, it’s been it reported”, then basically, what advice can you provide on how to get this delinquency removed. Is there anything her bank can do? I’m going to call them with her, but wanted to get advice from the experts on here first.

Thanks in advance for any advice you folks can offer!

Interesting GW letter reaction

I submitted a GW letter yesterday to Cap1 about having a 2 year old 30 day late on my closed card. Today I get a myfico update saying the the staus ot the account changed from closed by consumer to closed by consumer, consumer disputes after resolution. No score change however will my score dip with this new dispute listed under remarks or would I have seen the point loss with the update?

The lord works in mysterious ways :)

Two very pleasant surprises happened this weekend.

In June, one of my old collections I paid off was an old TWC/Charter Communications bill, being handled by the ERC collection agency. Also in June, a new collection suddenly hit me from EAS collection agency for Frontier, which I disputed last week on grounds that I had not enrolled my home in the service (my wife had), and wanted proof of a contract with my signature.

Yesterday morning I woke up to an alert that the EAS collection account was now closed, with the comment “account disputed by customer, supported by FCRA” and it was suddenly closed, so it sounds like my dispute was upheld.

Then this morning I woke up to an alert from TU that my ERC collection was suddenly no longer reporting. Now I admit that the debt they’d been collecting was old but I don’t think the DOFD had come quite yet, unless it was an auto-EE. But when I spoke with ERC after I did a PIF they told me very solidly that PFD wasn’t gonna happen and to kick rocks. So to see it now gone was an awesome thrill. Two baddies kicked to the curb in two days. No matter why, I’ll take it Smiley Happy Looking forward to a score refresh in the near future - VS3.0 went up 10pts from the EAS closure, and prob will again from ERC falling off. I’m looking forward to seeing what FICO does after the impact of these two going away is calculated.

Change to Early Exclusion Policy for Experian?

I called to have my final baddie removed by early exclusion a few weeks back and Experian was nice enough to let me know the exact date I could call and have it removed (today).  A little passive aggressive for them to make me wait until the very day it is eligible, but okay.  When I called back I followed the steps precisely that were listed on this site, asking for a domestic US supervisor.  I knew as soon as I was asked for my SSN that I wasn't just being passed through like before, but after collecting my info she said "ok we'll be able to take care of that for you within 24 hours" and I was shocked.  I then made sure to ask and repeat that I did not want a dispute, but that I was requesting early exclusion.  She said she understood.

I just got an email saying that my dispute has been opened.  *sigh*  Is this a change in the early exclusion policy for Experian or did I just explicitly ask not to do what she just did anyway?

Thanks.

Pls help!!

Are collectors legally able to charge you interest?

I've had a Capital One credit card in collections since early 2015. Recently, I sent the collector a letter to verfiy the debt. I have not recieved a response back, but today I noticed they added $160 in interest to the account. This account has not been charged interest for the last 3 years, why would they suddenly ignore me and start charging interest?

After Dispute Maturity date Updated ?? Why?

Hello All,

I need some help on trying to figure this issue i'm havin out. I searched the internet and I can't seem to find an answer. I disputed a collection account that I did not recognize and it also didnt have much information as far as conact info for the creditor. When the results came back,  experian said basically that  IF there was information to be updated, they would do so. Well when I reviewed my account after that the only thing I see updated is my date its supposed to come off my credit report! the account added 3 more years onto the account and I dont know why. I have not made any payments or promises to do so, so how is this possible?... Im so confused. If anyone can shed some light on this issue for me I'd appreciate it !

Thank you

How long will charge offs sink me!

In the late summer of 2016 I had 6 charge offs on my credit, I came into some money and paid them all off

In the early fall of 2016. Unfortunately that was before I joined this forum and realized I should have negotiated

a pay for deletes. Well since then I have opened 3 new credit cards and practicing the AZEO method and current on

4 more installment loans in which I have paid about 80% of the balances.I haven't had any lates. When I paid the charge offs in 2016 my

FICOS were around 580, I have been hovering around 650 for a while. My question is how long will paid charge offs

drag down my score significantly? I just want to get into the 700 club.

Help with PFD

Hello,

New to the forums.  I have a couple of questions regarding PFD.

1. I'm on a joint acct with my wife and have a JCPenny charge care. This card is reporting a charge off with EQ and collections with the other 2.  Should I request a PFD with the JCPenny or the CA that has the acct. Do I need to send in 2 letter one for myself and one for my wife or can I include both of us in one letter.

2. My second question is the same as the first only difference is that it is only me on an old ins policy.  I got a new policy and did not know my old policy was charging me for a partial month.  Should I contact the original ins company to take back collection authority and ask for PFD or the CA and as for PFD.

3.  I have an old capitol one CC that has been closed with no lates? Should I ask for deletion? It will fall off 4/2020. Will this effect my score if it stays on vs comes off.

Thanks in advance for your help.

I am new to Gardening ( I hope thats right )

I currently have the following cards/credit and I wanted to know what my best next steps would be .

Discover It Secured (2500)1yr 7mos | 6% Utilization

Credit One Bank (650)1 yr 5 mos | 20% Utilization

Surge Card AKA Cont Finance (625) 2yrs 11mos | 0% Utiliziation

Cap 1 (500) 8 mos | 30% Utiliziation

Gettington (1100)2yrs | 43% Utilization

Fingerhut (3000)3 yrs 1 mo | 53% Utiliziation <--- Just zeroed out but adding whats currently on CK

The next listings were only used to help increase my overall CL but if deemed neccasarry to remove I can. Yes I know they hurt my account age by accepting but didnt realize until after. AUTHORIZED USER ACCTS BELOW

Discover it AU (200)3 mos | 7% Utilization

Navy Federal FCU AU (2100) 3mos | 92% Utilization <---- Being 0'd this month

My current 3B scores are"

Equifax | 748

Transunion | 646

Experian | 636

Background :

I had 2 First Premier Bankcards both aged at about 2 years. They screwed up my bank account payments and had me PO'd . Instead of thinking about the age I instantly 0'd and closed both because of their foolishness.

2200 Collection from a trashy apartment I lived in KC for about 6mos before moving back to east coast. The collection is 3 years old . Should I pay ?

1 Negative showing on experian from an another company that had me PO'd about trying to charge a debit card that had been lost but never called me on failed payments and wanted me to pay for them trying debit card transactions . Yes I know I should control my temper . This shows as charged off but yet to see any collection agency come after me . Im open to all suggestions .

Another terrible part of my story is I have 26 inquiries . Most from shotgunning at car lots when I initially looked for a vehicle and backed out but 6mos later I found what I wanted. According to my profile , In Dec would be a year without inquires on my report period but Dec of 2019 I should show none except a recent NFCU in 3/18 that I was feeling lucky about .

I also have a vehicle loan through carmax for 27K @ 15% , This loan is at 6mos and I plan to refinance @ 1 year. Any thoughts?

I also have a business that I plan to PG in the future after my recovery/building process. I have a friend who helped me with all of this and recommending I wait to Dec 18 or Jan 19 before applying for my next tier of cards. The plans are for him to add me to his Amex as an AU that has a 17k limit and we read I should pick up his history as well? He is debating on adding me to his cap1 as well which has a 8k limit . The plan is that my overall CL will be boosted and once I start to apply I should get higer limits. I apologize in advance if this is jumbled but I appreciate all input .

About the above 748 Equifax.  Out of nowhere I logged into the app and it reported a new address change and increase on one of my cards and sent my score to 748 only with Equifax . I will not know if this is true until my free 3B report but I did not want to pay mid month because of one score jumping . I think its a glitch but open to suggestions .

Thanks

Rebuilding Journey

Hi everyone. First time poster. So here is my story. I have never had good credit in my life. It was ruined when I turned 18 by a family member taking out credit cards and a loan in my name. I found out the person did it even I turned 22 and applied for what I thought would be my first loan. Denied due to collections accounts. I was told by someone that I would have to file a police report and start writing letters. I knew at this point who did this to my credit and I couldn’t bring myself to have them arrested. It was very crappy what they did, but how can you put someone in jail who raised you? My thoughts then. At that point I gave up and didn’t care about my credit (stupid and young). I made poor choices by not paying my bills (all collections were medical bills, didn’t have insurance and stupidly thought that medical bills didn’t affect credit). Now here I am at 37 STILL suffering from dumb choices. I have 11 collections that I am working HARD to get off. 10 are medical bills and one is repo (embarrassment). I started my rebuilding journey in May 2018 and yet more mistakes. I learned about the SCT and went nuts. Hindsight 20:20. While they did boost my scores, I see that this was a mistake and I am ignorant to how to rebuild properly. I have 10 SCTs (only use 1 card). Yes, it’s stupid. Where I am at now is FICO average across board is 560ish. Daily, I research the forum looking for ways to dig out of this. My plan that I am working on is GETTING OUT of a bank and into a credit union. My husband is a vet so we applied for Navy. Waiting to hear back after sending documents. I’m just so overwhelmed and don’t even know where to start. Yes I have searched forum and taken notes but it’s still overwhelming. I tried using a credit repair business but nothing was ever done by them. Not even the first dispute. Can anyone please advise me on where to start?????? I’m in over my head.

11 collections. ($9000 total)
560ish across the board

Impact of Charge Off

Hey All,

You may find this interesting.  I have a charge off that is set to fall off in September, but for some reason, TU took it off early.  I believe my TU score was 698 before the change.  Also, my TU FAKO went from 719 to 754.

I lost a business 2 years ago and it crushed me as I had no income and a stack of debt. Over the past 2 years I have paid everything off or settled my debts. My scores are as follows:

Equifax - 611
Transunion - 582
Experian - 613

Recently I took out a motorcycle loan for a Harley I bought. Probably not the smartest idea but I figured it would help build my credit with on time payments. I have no credit cards currently, so what is my best bet for getting a credit card again to help build my credit? Also I am an authorized signor on a company credit card that shows up on my personal credit report. The credit card limit is high as well at the utilization on that card however it’s always paid on time but I’m wondering if this is hurting me or helping me. My credit report shows the high balance but when I use the credit simulator it does not show it as high utilization.

I also need to go for an auto loan soon, so I am trying my best to bump my scores before applying. I have a very good debt to income ratio as I make over $100k/year and currently just have the Harley as my only debt.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Low 400’s Credit Score — Looking for Advice and Options.

Good Morning,

I’m new to the forums here and I’ve done a bit of looking around but I’m in search of some insight and advice to get my credit back up and to get back on track.

Here’s a little background of my situation:
I just turned 24 years old and I’ve already had some ups and downs with my credit score and stability. It started back in July of 16 when I had my first credit card charge off. I was in transition of jobs and was slowly and slowly getting behind on my bills. I made any attempt that I could to not let it charge off, but simply surviving (rent, car, food, gas, insurance) got in the way. I opened up a couple more credit cards shortly after and did really well about staying up to date on those until I got into my first home (about two years ago) with some pretty unreliable roommates. Unfortunately, the bills started piling up again and I got behind on my credit cards, loans and truck payment. Fast forward to today and now I’m currently sitting at a 428 (per Experian app) and a 421 Transunion (per CK). I have 5 derogatory remarks (3 charged off cards; 2 bills in collections. Total of: $2200). I currently have my truck payment open ($18,000) and another credit card ($800; 121% of credit usage as I’m behind). I’m behind on both of those accounts, but am currently working on getting both of those caught up and ahead. Currently my payment history is at 44% and I hold 15 hard inquiries on my account (5 of which to drop off in the next 2 months).

I’m checking to see if there’s any hope to be lost, or if I can still get caught up and back ahead without having to file any type of bankruptcy. Please, any advice is very welcomed and I can provide more information to the at request.

Thank you so much, have a wonderful day.

AMEX

Had to share with someone, since none of my actual friends know about my credit issues.

I have:

First Premier Card CL $550

Credit1 Visa CL $800

Credit1 MC CL $850

Indigo CL $300

and a Capital 1 QS1 CL $1000

Have been screwing around on pre approval sites for the past 2 weeks and was on the AMEX site originally I was pre approved for the Cash Magnet Card and the Amex Every day, this week only the Cash Magnet. I have 2 inq. on my TU and EQ and 6 on my EX. My utilization is at 30% currently. I figured why not let me pull the trigger.

So I now also have a AMEX Cash Magnet with a SL of $2000, sat with the application filled out for like 30 mins, then finally hit the submit button and the next page was......would you like a second card....I WAS RELEIVED! Now I am trying to figure out how to add the cards that I have to my profile.

Late payments deleted

Hello all,

I am still figuring this whole credit thing out. As embarrassing it is I had some late payments along with some collection accounts.

I managed to get two credit cards to completely delete the tradeline which is total of 6 late payments.

Also I paid the collections in full and they said that they would delete the account. Currently, I am in low 600’s will my score increase at least 10-20 points?
I am hoping for an increase so that I can qualify for FHA.

Which items should I tackle first?

I have several deragatory items I would like to get taken off my credit. All but one are valid. Balances range from $35-$1500. I plan to attempt to settle these accounts and ask for PDF on each. I can’t pay them all off right away, so my question is: Is it better to pay several of the low balance accounts? Or pay off the highest balance first? Does type of debt (medical vs creditor) matter? The four highest are all medical bills. Other than those there’s just sprint, Att, and cox.
